Communications by E-Mail and Other Means

E-mail may not be confidential. Although we would be pleased to communicate with you by e-mail, do not send us confidential or otherwise private information until you speak with us and get authorization to send that information to us. Please be aware that if you communicate with us by e-mail or otherwise in connection with a matter for which we do not already represent you, your communication may not be treated as privileged or confidential.

Although most communications between an attorney and client are confidential, your communication is not confidential if you are not the attorney’s client, or if your communication is made in a setting where others are likely to receive it.  If we have not already agreed to act as your attorney, you must not assume that we will agree to do so or to keep confidential information that you send us. You also must not assume that our receipt of information from you will prevent us from representing someone else involved in any matter you disclose, or from sharing the information you send with that party.

Deadlines are extremely important in most legal matters. You may lose important legal rights if you do not hire an attorney immediately to advise you on your legal needs. Many people, including many attorneys, do not check their e-mail daily, and some attorneys do not respond to unsolicited e-mail from non-clients.

You should never send confidential or sensitive information by e-mail except when you have a pre-existing relationship with the person to whom you are sending the communication, with that person having  a contractual or other legal obligation to keep the communication confidential. You should recognize that e-mail may be stored and forwarded through several systems, and it is possible that someone may read, even illegally, your e-mail and disclose it to someone. Monaghan•Warrick•King  does not assume any legal obligation to respond to unsolicited email.

Monaghan•Warrick•King  specifically disclaims any and all liabilities for any harm or loss of any kind arising out of the transmission of confidential and/or sensitive information to us by email.
